At Patere AI, we want to ensure you understand our subscription and cancellation policies. This policy outlines how subscriptions work, how to cancel, and our approach to refunds.

1. Cancellation Policy

1.1 How to Cancel

You can cancel your subscription at any time by:

  • Logging into your account and selecting "Cancel Subscription" in settings
  • Emailing support@patere-ai.com with "Cancel Subscription" in the subject line
  • Contacting our support team directly

Cancellation is immediate and confirmed via email. No cancellation fees apply.

You retain full access until your next billing date.

1.3 Cancellation Examples

Monthly Subscription:

  • Subscribe on January 1st for $79/month
  • Cancel on January 15th
  • Result: Full access until February 1st (no refund for unused days)

One-Time Purchase:

  • Purchase a single search for $49
  • Service is delivered immediately
  • No cancellation available (non-refundable)

1.4 What Happens After Your Subscription Ends

When your paid period expires:

  • Access Ends: You can no longer perform new patent searches or create drafts
  • Data Retention: Your data is retained for 90 days
  • Download Period: You have 90 days to download previously generated content
  • Reactivation Available: You can reactivate anytime and restore your data (within 90 days)
  • After 90 Days: All data may be permanently deleted

2. No Refunds Policy

⚠️ Important: All Sales Are Final

Patere AI operates on a strict no-refund policy. All payments are final and non-refundable. When you subscribe or make a purchase, you are committing to payment for that billing period.

2.1 Why No Refunds?

Our no-refund policy exists because:

  • Instant Delivery: Patent searches are completed and delivered immediately
  • Digital Product: AI-generated content cannot be "returned" once created
  • Resource Costs: Significant computing power and API costs are incurred instantly
  • Immediate Value: You receive and can download all content immediately
  • Fair Alternative: You keep access until your next billing date when you cancel

2.2 What This Means

  • Monthly/Annual Subscriptions: No refunds for unused time, but you keep access until next billing date
  • One-Time Purchases: Non-refundable once search is completed
  • Unused Searches: No refunds if you don't use all available searches
  • Change of Mind: Not eligible for refund
  • Partial Months: No pro-rated refunds for partial billing periods

2.3 Before You Subscribe

Please carefully consider before purchasing:

  • Review our service features and limitations
  • Read our Terms of Service and Legal Disclaimer thoroughly
  • Understand this is a research tool, not legal advice
  • AI-generated content requires professional legal review
  • Consider starting with a one-time search if unsure about commitment
  • Contact support@patere-ai.com with any questions before purchasing

3. Limited Exceptions

While we maintain a strict no-refund policy, we may consider refunds in these extremely rare circumstances:

3.1 Service Failure

Refunds may be issued if:

  • Our Service was completely unavailable for more than 72 consecutive hours
  • A critical technical error prevented delivery of any service
  • We fundamentally failed to deliver the service as described

3.2 Billing Errors

We will refund charges resulting from:

  • Duplicate charges for the same purchase
  • Charges made after successful cancellation (beyond current period)
  • Incorrect pricing due to documented system error
  • Proven unauthorized transactions

3.3 Exceptional Circumstances

We review on a case-by-case basis (with documentation):

  • Serious medical emergency or hospitalization
  • Death of account holder
  • Other extraordinary situations at our sole discretion

⚠️ These exceptions are extremely rare and require substantial documentation. Simply changing your mind, dissatisfaction with AI quality, or not using the service does NOT qualify for a refund.

3.4 How to Request an Exception

Contact support@patere-ai.com with:

  • Your account email address
  • Transaction/receipt number
  • Date of charge
  • Detailed explanation with supporting evidence
  • Documentation (screenshots, medical records, death certificate, etc.)

Requests are reviewed within 5-7 business days. Decisions are final and at our sole discretion.

4. What's NOT Refundable

The following situations are never eligible for refunds:

  • ✗ Change of mind after purchase
  • ✗ Dissatisfaction with AI-generated content quality or results
  • ✗ Search results that don't meet your personal expectations
  • ✗ Patent application rejection by USPTO
  • ✗ Deciding not to pursue patent filing
  • ✗ Finding alternative or cheaper services
  • ✗ Not using the service during subscription period
  • ✗ Forgetting to cancel before renewal
  • ✗ Payment processing or currency conversion fees
  • ✗ Unused subscription time (you keep access instead)
  • ✗ Not achieving desired patent outcomes
  • ✗ Lack of understanding that professional review is required

5. Reactivation

5.1 How to Reactivate

You can reactivate your subscription anytime by:

  • Logging into your account and clicking "Reactivate"
  • Contacting support@patere-ai.com
  • Choosing a new subscription plan

5.2 Data Restoration

  • Within 90 Days: All your previous data will be fully restored
  • After 90 Days: You'll start with a fresh account (previous data deleted)
  • Billing: Reactivation starts a new billing cycle immediately

6. Payment Method Issues

6.1 Failed Payments

If your payment method fails:

  • We attempt to charge 3 times over 7 days
  • You receive email notifications of each attempt
  • Update payment method in account settings
  • After 3 failed attempts, subscription is cancelled automatically
  • No refunds for service interruption due to failed payment

6.2 Grace Period

  • 3-day grace period after first payment failure
  • Account remains active during grace period
  • Update payment method to avoid interruption
  • After grace period, access is suspended until payment succeeds

7. Chargebacks

⚠️ Contact Us Before Initiating a Chargeback

If you have a billing concern, please contact support@patere-ai.com first. Chargebacks without prior contact may result in account termination and legal action.

7.1 Chargeback Consequences

If you file a chargeback:

  • Immediate account suspension pending investigation
  • We provide evidence to your bank disputing the chargeback
  • If chargeback is deemed fraudulent or unjustified:
    • Permanent account termination
    • You pay chargeback fees ($15-35)
    • Possible legal action to recover costs
    • Ban from future service use

8. Service Credits

8.1 When Credits May Be Issued

Instead of refunds, we may offer service credits for:

  • Extended service outages (72+ hours)
  • Severe technical issues affecting multiple users
  • Goodwill gestures in exceptional circumstances

8.2 Credit Terms

  • Credits valid only for Patere AI services
  • Credits expire 12 months from issuance
  • Non-transferable and non-refundable
  • Cannot be exchanged for cash
  • Applied automatically to next billing cycle

9. Downgrading Plans

9.1 How to Downgrade

Contact support@patere-ai.com to downgrade (e.g., Enterprise to Monthly):

  • Change takes effect at end of current billing period
  • No refund or credit for price difference
  • You retain higher tier features until downgrade takes effect
  • New lower price applies to next billing cycle

10. International Customers

10.1 Regional Laws

For customers outside the United States:

  • Some jurisdictions mandate cooling-off or withdrawal periods
  • EU customers may have 14-day withdrawal rights (subscriptions only, not one-time purchases)
  • We comply with applicable consumer protection laws in your region

10.2 Currency and Taxes

  • All prices in USD unless otherwise stated
  • Currency conversion fees are non-refundable
  • Applicable taxes vary by jurisdiction
